Getting ready for the Holidays!

We've been decorating for Christmas around here. We got our tree up and decorated last night. We had a nice fire going and made some sugar cookies and hot cocoa while we decorated. Avery is not in the pics b/c she decided to spend the night at a friend's house last minute. Not much else is new. Going to the circus tomorrow with our friends.

So much to say

Wow it has been a long time!! Lately I've been slightly obsessed with my newfound Myspace page (and it's so much easier to upload photos to!) A lot has gone on since Cade started preschool. He's actually not in preschool anymore due to an unfortunate event that happened with his teacher who is nothing but a sour, mean old lady. Hopefully she has not scarred him for life!

We went to Disney World and had such a great time. It was just an all around fun week, however my memories are bittersweet since it was the last time I saw my Poppy. He died about 5 weeks after we got back. So then we went to Maryland for a few days and after that we prepared for Halloween and Cade's birthday party (which was early b/c he wanted a costume party). So now we are getting ready for Thanksgiving which we will be spending with our best friends Mike and Kari and their 2.5 (one isn't finished cooking yet) kids so we are very excited for that!

The pics I'm posting are of Cade's party and some from this weekend when we unsuccessfully attempted to get some good family pictures.

Cade's 1st day of Preschool!!

I should have known that with temperament of my kids and the temperament of myself that homeschooling was not going to go well! We tried for 5 days and it just was not working out. Cade didn't want to do anything he was supposed to do. SO, luckily I found a preschool that still had some openings and he started today! If you know Cade then you know that he is mama's boy but he did so well! He didn't cry at all and he actually had a lot of fun and is so excited to go back! I enjoyed the 3 hours of doing nothing myself!

Wow it's been a while!

Since school started 3 weeks ago we've been busy! 1st grade is nothing like what it used to be when we were little. I remember just learning to read. Now, they have spelling and grammar tests every Friday!
Cade and I joined the gym at UAH which has been great for both of us. The gym is just like the one at college park so I have lots of classes, weights and cardio to choose from. Cade is getting used to being left in the childcare area without me or even Avery. He's doing well. At first he wouldn't talk to anyone but he's slowly making friends. 3 mornings a week he goes to his own gym class and he really likes that. I am homeschooling him this year so we start that next week.
In two weeks we leave for Disney world!!! We are all very excited for that! Dave and I especially are looking forward to having a little change of pace.
Avery turned 6 on the 12th but she just had her birthday party this past Saturday. She had a Luau with all the girls from her 1st grade class plus our neighbor and the two little one's I babysit for. We had a full house!

playroom update

We added a few more pieces to the playroom. The top half of the media system is art cubby storage and the bottom half is games, books, puzzles and movies. The kids each got a beanbag and we put up the art dispay cable to showcase all their artwork. I'm not sure what I'm doing with the wall space under the artwork at the moment. Still plenty more to add!!

Spicin' up Lunch!

In an effort to spice up the ol' PB&J sandwich I tried this adorable recipe! It's supposed to be done with a half of a pita but I didn't have any so I had to make-do with what I did have. I thought those of you with kids might want to give it a try! It was a huge hit with my two!

Directions:
-Spread natural peanut butter on a 1/2 whole wheat pita
-Use the appropriate colored fruit to make the rainbow

Playroom in Progress

We have started working on the kid's playroom! As you can see it's nowhere close to being finished but I will update on it's progress as it moves along. I think we might paint up there....which I realize should have been done BEFORE the furniture got up there! Oh and yes I also know Cade is in an astronaut suit.

Fun with a camera

Thought you would enjoy these as much as we did! We were at a friends house and his computer takes these funny photos.
